ASSOCIATION

FEY ARTS

Feÿ is a non-profit, multidisciplinary arts festival founded in 2018 that brings together French and international artists in a Burgundy village every year. For three days, the event transforms the Château du Feÿ into a platform for encounters and experimentation, 1h30 from Paris. Cinema, performance, publishing, contemporary art, music, architecture and gastronomy come together over the weekend to create an artistic laboratory that visitors are invited to discover.

VOLUNTEERING

If you'd like to volunteer to help us build the event and create the encounters, fill in the form. For other questions, contact us at info@fey-arts.com.

ART

Feÿ is a multidisciplinary platform focused on French and international contemporary creation. By mixing different mediums, the event aims to create an artistic dialogue and experiments with several voices. The programme brings together artists from the fields of cinema, music, publishing, visual and performing arts, architecture and gastronomy. They have been invited to create works especially for the festival, inspired by the space of the castle.

MEETINGS

Feÿ brings a contemporary and international artistic scene to Burgundy to encourage encounters between artists and audiences of different origins and all ages. The artists live together on the site during the festival. Prior to the event, they are invited to share a time of residence together to invent, discuss and potentially collaborate if they wish. Some of them will create new works with the participation of Jovinien inhabitants and through partnerships with local institutions. Throughout the weekend, festival-goers will also be invited to take part in performances, workshops and a discussion programme bringing together the different artists around common themes.

ECOLOGY

Creating a space for creativity and dialogue implies thinking about the impacts - symbolic and individual, but also collective and concrete - that result. Feÿ Arts' primary ambition is therefore to become a "green" festival. Situated in a particularly rich ecosystem, the event is entirely part of an environment of which it wants to make the spectator aware and respectful. Feÿ arts has made ecology one of its priorities. The festival promotes responsibility towards others, towards the earth, but also towards the plate, through the proposed modes of consumption (anti-plastic and "zero waste" policy) and the discourse it disseminates (educational workshops in the vegetable garden, traceability of products, etc.).

THE PLACE

HERITAGE

Organised in a historic 17th century monument, Feÿ invites festival-goers to rediscover French heritage through artistic experimentation. As such, the second edition of the event will take place during the European Heritage Days (21-22 September 2019) whose theme this year is "Arts and Entertainment". Guided tours of the castle will be offered throughout the three days.

THE CASTLE

The Château du Feÿ was originally built as a residence for a close adviser to Louis XIII. Having hosted the courtesan and free-thinker Ninon de Lenclos or Saint-Vincent de Paul, this 17th century building is listed as a Historic Monument. It is located a stone's throw from Joigny, a town renowned for its architecture (19 listed monuments), its gastronomy and its wine. It also has a 42-hectare forest and overlooks the Yonne valley, offering a breathtaking view of the Jovinien. For the past 30 years, the British chef Anne Willan has organised cooking classes with renowned chefs, such as Mashama Bailey (Chef's Table 2019). The purchase of the castle in January 2017 and the creation of Feÿ allow the doors of this monument to be opened to the public for the first time in 400 years, thus helping to revitalise the local area.
